Objectivist Round Up

Titanic Deck Chairs hosts the 100th edition of the Objectivist Round Up this week.

  1. Check out the research for toddlers and preschoolers on something called "Executive Function." There was an article in Newsweek a while back. It is basically a bunch of research on cool pre-academic skills for kids... instead of cognitive tasks, you run them through a lot of pretend play and games that are designed to increase their ability to focus on a task and shut out distractions. The research is very positive... kids given EF exercises early on substantially outperformed kids given other types of preschool education. Best of all, from my standpoint, the EF type games are FUN... clapping games, playing pretend, games to see who can keep a straight face longest...
